Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic period in 2020, economic growth in this region is significantly higher. Previously, at the end of 2020, post-COVID growth was recorded at a decrease of 0.31%.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 453,890, the GRDP per capita in this region is recorded at Rp101.68 million/capita/year. Nationally, this GRDP per capita ranks 73rd.
Of the 17 sectors driving economic activity in this regency, the manufacturing industry is the leading sector.
The manufacturing sector ranks first. In 2023, this sector contributed the largest GRDP value, reaching Rp19.41 trillion, showing a growth of 4.19%.
Second is the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector, which grew by 3.16% to Rp9.59 trillion, followed by the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, which grew by 5.92% to Rp8.04 trillion.
Finally, in the top five GRDP sectors of Batu Bara Regency, transportation and warehousing ranks fifth with a value of Rp1.39 trillion. According to BPS, this sector grew by 1.74% over the past year from the previous achievement of Rp1.3 trillion.
