The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices in West Sumbawa Regency in 2024 was recorded at Rp36.56 million. The GRDP of this regency grew by 12.01% compared to the previous year's Rp29.64 million.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic period in 2020, the economic growth in this region is much higher. Previously, the growth at the end of the post-COVID year 2021 was recorded at a decline of 0.33%.
According to BPS publications, with a total population of 153.57 thousand people, the per capita GRDP in this region was recorded at Rp235.09 million per capita per year. This per capita GRDP ranks 22nd nationally.
Of the 17 sectors driving the economy in this regency, the mining and quarrying sector is the leading one.
The mining and quarrying sector in West Sumbawa Regency is the flagship sector and contributed the largest share of GRDP in 2024 with a value of Rp30.94 million. This nominal figure grew by 13.79% compared to the previous year's Rp24.35 million.
Next in second place is the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector, which grew by 0.43% to Rp1.34 million, followed by the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, which grew by 6.04% to Rp1.17 million.
The fifth largest contributing sector is transportation and warehousing with a GRDP of Rp533.5 thousand million. This sector grew by 4.59% compared to the previous year's achievement of Rp490.3 thousand million.

In terms of distribution level, the main sector contributing the largest GRDP growth in West Sumbawa Regency is the mining and quarrying sector with a contribution of 83.27%. The other top five sectors are agriculture, forestry and fisheries, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, construction, and transportation and warehousing.
Meanwhile, the sectors with the smallest distribution are the Human Health and Social Work Activities Sector, Manufacturing Sector, Professional, Scientific and Technical Activities Sector, Electricity and Gas Supply Sector, and Water Supply; Sewerage, Waste Management and Remediation Activities Sector.
