By Sunday, April 14, 2024, the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) had received 1,475 complaints regarding the payment of 2024 Eid al-Fitr holiday allowances (THR), involving 930 companies.
Kemnaker Secretary General Anwar Sanusi stated that the majority of complaints originated from DKI Jakarta, with a total of 280 companies involved.
Numerous similar complaints were also received from West Java, involving 161 companies, as well as Central Java and East Java, each involving 88 companies.
"Indeed, several provinces, particularly in eastern Indonesia, did not file any complaints," Anwar said after the Kemnaker's 2024 Eid al-Fitr Halal Bihalal, as reported by *Katadata* on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.
He further detailed that of the 1,475 complaints received, the majority, or 897, were regarding companies failing to pay THR.
Furthermore, 361 complaints related to THR payments not complying with regulations, and 217 complaints concerned delayed THR payments.
"Complaints regarding companies not paying THR are the highest, and this is a matter of concern for us to resolve," Anwar said.
The regulations for this year's Eid al-Fitr THR are stipulated in the Minister of Manpower's Circular Letter Number M/2/HK.04/III/2024.
This letter mandates that all companies are obligated to pay THR without installments or delays, given that the economic conditions are considered to have recovered from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"The 2024 Eid al-Fitr THR can and must be paid because it is the company's obligation to provide it," Anwar said.
Kemnaker has also prepared sanctions for companies that fail to settle the 2024 Eid al-Fitr THR after mediation.
"The most severe sanction is a government recommendation to close the business. However, this must be coordinated with the relevant institutions that grant business permits," Anwar said.
