The Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, revealed that the number of people traveling for the Lebaran holiday from March 13-29, 2026 reached 147.55 million, a decrease of around 4.5% compared to the 2025 period. However, it was a 2.53% increase compared to the survey result of 143.92 million people.
Dudy explained that the number of public transport passengers during this year's Lebaran period amounted to 23.54 million, an increase of 10.87% compared to the previous period of 21.23 million passengers.
From a safety perspective, separate data from the National Police showed that the number of traffic accidents during the 2026 Lebaran period totaled 3,517, a decrease of 6.31% compared to 2025.
According to Dudy, this year's achievements should be appreciated and used as an evaluation basis for future improvements.
"Safety remains the top priority in every transportation organization. There can be no compromise in terms of the suitability of facilities, the readiness of infrastructure, or compliance with operational standards," said Dudy in Jakarta on Monday (March 30, 2026), as quoted from the Ministry of Transportation website.
