Asmat Regency's 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices reached Rp3,145.3 billion. This represents a 6.17% growth compared to the previous year's Rp2,885.88 billion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, economic growth in this region is significantly higher. Post-COVID growth at the end of 2020 was recorded at only 0.59%.
Of the 17 sectors driving economic growth in the regency, the construction sector is the leading contributor.
The construction sector contributed the largest share to the GRDP in 2023, reaching Rp1.06 trillion (Note: "jutajuta" appears to be a typographical error, likely intended as "triliun"). This represents a 7.77% growth.
Following this is the public administration, defense, and compulsory social security sector, which grew by 4.56% to Rp638.91 billion. The agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector is third, with a GRDP of Rp516.95 billion (6.26% growth).
Rounding out the top five is the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, with a value of Rp223.7 billion. According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia), this sector grew by 7.65% over the past year from its previous achievement of Rp196.37 billion.

In terms of distribution, the construction sector contributed the largest share to GRDP growth in Asmat Regency, accounting for 31.92%. Other sectors in the top five include agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; public administration, defense, and compulsory social security; education services; and wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.
Sectors with the smallest distribution include accommodation and food services; financial and insurance services; water supply; waste management, waste and recycling; electricity and gas supply; and mining and quarrying.
