Karimun Regency's 2023 Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices (ADHB) reached Rp17.02 trillion. This represents a 5.5% increase compared to the previous year's Rp15.55 trillion.
Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth recorded a 3.59% decline.
According to BPS (Statistics Indonesia) publications, with a total population of 267,760, the GRDP per capita in the region is recorded at Rp65,300,000 per capita per year. Nationally, this ranks 141st.
Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economy, the construction sector is the leading contributor.
The construction sector in Karimun Regency is a mainstay, contributing the largest share to the 2023 GRDP with a value of Rp3.24 trillion. This represents a 1.84% increase compared to the previous year's Rp3.1 trillion.
The second largest contributor to Karimun Regency's GRDP is the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, which grew by 7.44% to Rp3.21 trillion. The agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sector contributed Rp2.46 trillion (3.28%).
Other sectors among the top five contributors include mining and quarrying with a GRDP of Rp1.96 trillion.
Distribution of GRDP in Karimun Regency in 2023
In terms of distribution, the construction sector contributed the most to GRDP growth in Karimun Regency, accounting for 19.06%. Other top five sectors include wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles; agriculture, forestry, and fisheries; manufacturing; and mining and quarrying.
Sectors with the smallest distribution include financial and insurance services; other service sectors; electricity and gas supply; water supply; waste management, waste disposal and recycling; and corporate services.
