A conflict is currently raging between two of Indonesia's neighboring countries, namely Thailand and Cambodia.
According to a study by the International Crisis Group, Thailand and Cambodia have been disputing territorial borders since at least the 1950s.
That long-standing dispute resurfaced, escalating into military clashes this year.
"2025 witnessed renewed border tensions between Thailand and Cambodia that sparked deadly armed clashes in July and December," reported Thai media outlet, Thai PBS (22/12/2025).
Referring to Thai PBS's report, on Saturday (20/12/2025), the Thai military deployed F-16 fighter jets to bomb the O-Jik Bridge in Oddar Meanchey Province, Cambodia.
Then on Sunday (21/12/2025), Cambodia fired rockets into Thai residential areas and markets in Aranyaprathet District.
The exchange of attacks continued until Monday (22/12/2025), with both the Thai and Cambodian militaries firing rockets and artillery at each other.
"Thailand and Cambodia set to meet this Wednesday for ceasefire talks," Thai PBS reported on Monday (22/12/2025).
Furthermore, according to data from the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), in recent years Thailand has received the most weapon shipments from the United States (US).
During the 2010-2024 period, SIPRI found there were 56 weapon delivery contracts from the US to Thailand.
These contracts included agreements for the delivery of various military equipment, ranging from radar, missiles, torpedoes, military vehicles, helicopters, to armed aircrafts.
During the same period, there were also quite a number of weapon delivery contracts to Thailand originating from Ukraine, China, Israel, Germany, Sweden, Italy, France, Austria, and South Africa, as shown in the graph.
SIPRI collects this data from publicly accessible sources, including media reports, arms company reports, arms export-import reports, government agency reports, and reports from international organizations such as The United Nations Register of Conventional Arms.
