The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's expenditure or economic inequality, measured by the Gini ratio, was 0.375 in March 2025.
This figure decreased from 0.381 in September 2024 and 0.379 in March 2024.
By province, DKI Jakarta had the highest inequality in March 2025, reaching 0.441.
This position remained from the previous measurement period, even increasing by 0.010 points from 0.431 in September 2024. Note that the BPS calculation for DKI Jakarta is based on its urban characteristics.

The next highest inequality was in DI Yogyakarta, at 0.426 in March 2025. The breakdown is: urban areas 0.434 and rural areas 0.334.
Next is West Java with a total Gini coefficient of 0.416. Inequality in the province's urban areas reached 0.426 and in rural areas 0.323.
The three provinces with the lowest inequality in Indonesia are Bangka Belitung Islands (0.222), North Kalimantan (0.261), and Central Sulawesi (0.279).
