According to a report by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), as of early July 2025, there were approximately 5.59 million beneficiaries of the free nutritious food program (MBG) in Indonesia.
This program is distributed through 1,863 nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPG).
"This could actually feed almost the entire population of Singapore. So, in Indonesia it's only 2%, while in Singapore it's almost 100%," said BGN Head Dadan Hindayana in a working meeting with Commission IX of the DPR (House of Representatives) on Tuesday (1/7/2025).
The largest number of MBG beneficiaries are elementary school students (SD/MI) with 2.39 million recipients.
Meanwhile, the smallest number of beneficiaries are from seminaries, educational institutions for Catholic priests/pastors, with 802 recipients.
The following is a complete list of MBG beneficiaries as of July 1, 2025:
1. SD/MI (Elementary School): 2.39 million people
2. SMP/MTS (Junior High School): 1.53 million people
3. SMA/MA/SMK (Senior High School/Vocational High School): 1.16 million people
4. TK (Kindergarten): 239,503 people
5. Infants: 85,920 people
6. Early Childhood Education (PAUD): 81,649 people
7. Breastfeeding Mothers: 30,672 people
8. Islamic Boarding Schools (Pondok Pesantren): 27,480 people
9. Pregnant Women: 18,031 people
10. Special Needs Schools (SLB): 8,706 people
11. Community Learning Centers (PKBM): 1,207 people
12. Seminaries: 802 people
Dadan stated that he will further increase the number of MBG beneficiaries from pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and infants.
"This number will increase significantly because starting this week we will intensify interventions for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and infants," he said.
He explained that currently, students are unwilling to come to school to receive MBG because it is the school holiday season.
Therefore, the BGN will intensively distribute MBG to pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and infants through posyandu (integrated health service posts) or home delivery of food.
