Top 5 Investment Recipient Business Sectors in Indonesia, Q1 2025

The Indonesian Investment Ministry/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) reported that investment realization in Indonesia reached Rp465.2 trillion in the first quarter of 2025. This realization grew by 15.9% year-on-year.

Of this amount, 49.5% of the investment was in the form of foreign direct investment (FDI) and 50.5% was domestic direct investment (DDI).

In the first quarter of this year, the most significant capital inflow was into the basic metal industry, metal goods, non-machinery, and equipment sector, with a value of Rp67.3 trillion. This figure is equivalent to 14.5% of total national investment.

Next is the transportation, warehousing, and telecommunications sector, which received Rp66.5 trillion in investment.

This is followed by the mining sector with Rp48.6 trillion in investment; other services with Rp41 trillion; and housing, industrial estates, and office buildings with Rp37.5 trillion.

In the first quarter of 2025, the largest inflow of foreign capital into Indonesia originated from Singapore, amounting to US$4.6 billion.

Other significant sources of foreign investors include Hong Kong (US$2.2 billion), China (US$1.8 billion), Malaysia (US$1 billion), and Japan (US$1 billion).
