Bengkulu Governor's Reported Assets, Subject of Extortion and Gratification Investigation

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named Bengkulu Governor Rohidin Mersyah a suspect on Sunday (24/11/2024). He is allegedly involved in extortion and bribery cases within the Bengkulu Provincial Government.

His designation as a suspect stems from a sting operation (OTT) on Saturday (23/11/2023). In the sting operation, the KPK confiscated Rp7 billion in cash, comprising Indonesian Rupiah, US dollars, and Singapore dollars.

The KPK also named two other suspects: Bengkulu Provincial Secretary Isnan Fajri and aide Evrianshah.

Rohidin was inaugurated as Deputy Governor of Bengkulu in 2016, serving alongside Ridwan Mukti as Governor. In 2017, Ridwan was implicated in a drug case, and Rohidin was appointed as acting governor.

Rohidin was then elected Governor of Bengkulu for the 2021-2024 period. In the 2024 Regional Elections, he ran again for the position alongside Meriani.

According to the KPK's State Officials' Wealth Report (LHKPN), Rohidin Mersyah reported assets worth Rp4.1 billion in 2023.

The majority of his assets consist of land and buildings valued at Rp2.6 billion. This comprises 5 plots of land and buildings located in Bengkulu.

He also reported cash and cash equivalents of Rp956 million, transportation assets of Rp279 million, and other movable assets worth Rp265 million.

The reported transportation assets include a 2018 Honda motorcycle, a 2013 Honda motorcycle, and a 2010 Toyota Harrier.

Until the end of 2023, this corruption-implicated Bengkulu Governor was recorded as having no debts.
