"For LPG, from the retail selling price of a 3 kg cylinder (valued at) Rp12,750, the current economic price is Rp44,025 per cylinder," said Febrio in the meeting.

"Thus, for every 3 kg LPG cylinder purchased by the public, the government or the APBN bears Rp31,275 per cylinder; that is the amount of subsidy enjoyed by the public," he continued.

Throughout 2021, Indonesian households consumed 70.29 million barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) of electricity, and 69.93 million BOE of LPG.

The combined consumption of electricity and LPG accounts for 94% of total national household energy consumption last year.
