Compared to the COVID-19 pandemic year of 2020, the region's economic growth is significantly higher. At the end of 2020, post-COVID, growth recorded a decrease of 2.13%.
According to BPS publications, with a total population of 1.03 million, the GRDP per capita in the region is recorded at Rp79,190,000/capita/year. Nationally, this ranks 107th.
Of the 17 sectors driving the region's economy, the manufacturing industry is the leading sector.
In 2023, the manufacturing sector in Purwakarta Regency recorded a value of Rp47.92 trillion, ranking first among the 17 sectors. This represents a 5.57% growth compared to the previous year's Rp44.55 trillion.
Second is the wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles sector, which grew by 3.44% to Rp8.99 trillion, followed by the construction sector, which grew by 3.57% to Rp6.04 trillion.
Other sectors contributing to the top five include transportation and warehousing with a GRDP of Rp2.22 trillion.

The sectors with the smallest distribution are electricity and gas supply, corporate services, health and social services, mining and quarrying, and water supply, waste management, waste and recycling.
