The Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) reported that the realization of the food security budget from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) reached Rp37 trillion in August 2023.
This figure is up 7% year-on-year (yoy) from Rp34.6 trillion in August 2022.
The budget was allocated to three sectors: ministry/agency expenditure (K/L), non-K/L expenditure, and regional transfer expenditure (TKD).
K/L expenditure totaled Rp23.1 trillion. Details include Rp13.4 trillion for the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), for dam construction and irrigation network rehabilitation programs.
Other K/L expenditure included Rp6.4 trillion for the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), for the procurement of 12,857 units of post-harvest agricultural machinery and equipment (alsintan) and 300,013 units of agricultural insurance.
Other agency expenditure amounted to Rp135.1 billion for the National Food Agency (Bapanas), used for food distribution and food assistance in controlling food insecurity.
"(The budget) for Bulog through Bapanas is for food price stabilization, especially during periods of scarcity due to climate change such as El Niño," said Sri Mulyani, Minister of Finance, in an online press conference, *APBN Kita*, Wednesday (20/9/2023).
The next sector, non-K/L expenditure, totaled Rp12.3 trillion, used for fertilizer subsidies with a volume of 4.27 million tons.
Meanwhile, TKD expenditure amounted to Rp1.6 trillion. This allocation was for Rp1.3 trillion in physical special allocation funds (DAK) for livestock feed processing, rehabilitation of agricultural roads, and irrigation networks.
Furthermore, the TKD sector also disbursed Rp0.1 trillion in food and agricultural resilience funds to community groups.
