The Jakarta Central District Court's ruling to postpone the 2024 Election has shocked the public. This is especially true because the order, within this civil court decision, was previously filed by the Prima Party, with the General Election Commission (KPU) as the defendant.
The lawsuit for the postponement of the 2024 Election was filed by the Prima Party on the grounds that the party did not meet the requirements during the administrative verification stage for prospective political party participants in the election.
However, according to the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), the government remains committed to holding the upcoming election as scheduled, on February 14, 2024.
"The President has emphasized his support for the 2024 Election to be held on schedule and constitutionally. To date, the government remains committed to supporting the holding of the 2024 Election according to schedule," said Deputy V of the KSP, Jaleswari Pramodhawardani, as quoted by *Katadata.co.id* on Friday (3/3/2023).
On the other hand, the Chairman of the KPU, Hasyim Asy'ari, stated that the KPU will take legal action to overturn the decision to postpone the 2024 Election. "We will appeal," said Hasyim to *Katadata.co.id* on Thursday (2/3/2023).
Given the uproar over the decision to postpone the election, how much funding has actually been allocated from the state budget (APBN) for the 2024 election?
Previously, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati had budgeted Rp25.01 trillion from the APBN to support the Simultaneous Elections in 2024. This budget allocation comes from the 2022 and 2023 fiscal years.
Sri Mulyani stated that the Rp25.01 trillion budget will be allocated to the KPU, the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), and ministries/agencies.
In detail, the largest budget allocation is for the KPU at Rp15.49 trillion, followed by Bawaslu at Rp6.91 trillion, and ministries/agencies (K/L) at Rp2.61 trillion.
However, according to Sri Mulyani, this figure is still provisional because the allocation for the 2024 fiscal year is still being calculated. "We have provided adequate funding for the election, and of course, it will be done wisely," said Sri Mulyani, as quoted by *Tempo.co* last Friday (3/2/2023).
