Indonesia's Current Food Prices: Chili Prices Rise, Oil Prices Fall

The prices of several food commodities in Indonesia today are observed to be higher than yesterday.

Based on food price panel data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) on Monday (16/12/2024) at 09.34 WIB, out of 21 commodities, 15 commodities increased in price and 6 commodities decreased.

Commodities that increased in price include chicken eggs, shallots, farmer-level corn, red chilies, and SPHP rice.

Meanwhile, the prices of several commodities such as packaged wheat flour (non-bulk), bulk cooking oil, fine iodized salt, bulk wheat flour, and pure beef decreased compared to yesterday's prices.

Red chili prices increased the most, by Rp1,480 (4.39%) to Rp35,190 per kg. Milkfish prices decreased the most sharply, by Rp890 (2.66%) to Rp32,610 per kg.

The following is a complete list of the prices of 21 food commodities in Indonesia according to Bapanas on December 16, 2024, at 09.34 WIB.

6. Broiler Chicken: Rp36,780 per kg (up 0.38%)
7. Curly Red Chilies: Rp35,190 per kg (up 4.39%)
8. Milkfish: Rp32,610 per kg (down 2.66%)
9. Skipjack Tuna: Rp31,410 per kg (up 0.42%)
10. Chicken Eggs: Rp29,880 per kg (up 0.64%)
11. Simple Packaged Cooking Oil: Rp18,690 per liter (up 0.21%)
12. Granulated Sugar: Rp18,060 per kg (up 0.56%)
