The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) recorded four districts/cities in North Sumatra with an average weekly vaccination rate above the provincial average, which currently stands at 3,657.22 doses as of Saturday, May 14, 2022.
The average vaccination rate for the top three districts/cities, all exceeding 5,000 doses, are Simalungun, Langkat, and Asahan, with 7,506 doses, 5,455 doses, and 4,584 doses respectively.
Simalungun ranks first with an average weekly vaccination rate of 7,506 doses. Vaccine usage up to yesterday was recorded at 1.13 million doses. In the national dashboard recapitulation, the complete vaccination rate in this region has reached 72.4 percent.
According to the Ministry of Health, the available vaccine stock in this district will run out in the next 16 days. This remaining usage period is calculated from the remaining stock of 124,660 doses, and vaccine usage is the highest in North Sumatra.
Next is Langkat, which recorded an average weekly vaccination rate of 5,455 doses, lower than the previous week. Langkat is in second place. With this average vaccine usage, the vaccine stock in this region will be sufficient for the next 40 days. The remaining vaccine stock is currently 221,230 doses.
Following is Asahan, with an average weekly vaccination rate of 4,584 doses. The complete vaccination coverage has reached 76.86 percent. Deli Serdang has a vaccination rate of 4,372 doses and a complete vaccination rate of 73.21%. Tapanuli Selatan has an average weekly vaccination rate of 3,126 doses and a complete vaccination rate of 79.37%.
Areas outside Java with the highest average vaccination rates include Simalungun, Rokan Hulu, and Lampung Tengah, with average vaccinations of 7,506 doses, 6,305 doses, and 6,083 doses respectively.
Although COVID-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to help reduce COVID-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
