The war between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas militant group, which erupted on October 7, 2023, continues unabated.
By the 33rd day of the war, November 8, 2023, the number of Palestinian casualties had exceeded 10,700, approximately seven times higher than the Israeli death toll.
As of November 8, 2023, the highest number of Palestinian casualties was in the Gaza Strip, at 10,569, followed by 150 in the West Bank.
Meanwhile, Israeli casualties stand at approximately 1,430, with no new deaths reported since November 6, 2023.
This data was compiled by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) from the Gaza Ministry of Health and official statements from the Israeli government.
In addition to fatalities, OCHA recorded approximately 28,872 Palestinian wounded and 5,400 Israeli wounded by November 8, 2023.
OCHA also reported that both sides continue to attack each other, although the majority of casualties are Palestinian.
"On November 8, fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups continued in and around Gaza City, as well as in northern Gaza," OCHA stated in its report on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
"Intensive Israeli bombing from air, sea, and land continued throughout the Gaza Strip, while Palestinian armed groups continued to launch projectiles towards Israel," it continued.
Meanwhile, surviving Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are enduring dire conditions, with minimal access to basic necessities and facing the threat of infectious diseases.
"On November 8, WHO warned of a risk of widespread infectious diseases and bacterial infections (in the Gaza Strip) due to a lack of clean water and consumption of contaminated water," OCHA stated on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
"Since mid-October, there have been more than 33,500 reported cases of diarrhea, more than half of which occurred in infants," it added.
