Only 5.14% of West Sulawesi's population had attained tertiary education in June 2021.

West Sumatra has a population of 1.44 million. According to the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, 74,160 people, or 5.14% of West Sulawesi's (Sulbar) population, had attained higher education by June 2021.

The details are as follows: 118 people (0.01%) of Sulbar's population are S3 graduates. There are 2,980 people (0.21%) in the province who have completed S2 education, and 51,290 people (3.56%) have completed S1 education.

Furthermore, 12,840 people (0.89%) of the population in this province, which is a new province carved out of South Sulawesi, have completed D3 level education, and 6,930 people (0.48%) have completed D1 and D2 level education.

Meanwhile, 369,840 people (25.66%) of Sulbar's population have completed secondary education. This includes 207,170 people (14.37%) who are upper secondary school (SLTA) graduates and 162,680 people (11.29%) who are lower secondary school (SLTP) graduates.

There are 355,070 people (24.63%) of Sulbar's population who have completed primary school (SD), and 185,540 people (12.87%) who have not completed primary school. Those who have not attended school number 456,800 (31.69%).
