2023 BPS Data: 22.22% of Gresik Regency's Population is Still Children

According to 2023 data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), 862,620 or approximately 66.14% of the population in Gresik Regency are in the productive age group (15-59 years old). Meanwhile, 22.22% of the total population, or approximately 289,810, are children (aged 0-14 years), and another 11.64% are residents over 60 years old.

The population of Gresik Regency was recorded at 1.3 million as of June 2023. This figure is higher than in December 2021 and lower than in December 2020. Over the past five years, the Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of the population in this region decreased by 0.04%. This growth is lower than the growth recorded in the previous five years, which was 0.93%.

Compared to other regencies/cities in East Java Province, Gresik Regency ranks 11th in terms of population; while by island, it ranks 47th.
