Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Sibolga City Reached 8.53% in 2024

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of food inadequacy (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in Sibolga City, North Sumatra, was 8.53% in 2024.

This figure increased by 1.21% from the previous year's 7.32%, while in the last 5 years, it increased by 4.95%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that Sibolga City's PoU is higher compared to the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.
