The Lampung Provincial Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (PPPA) reported 307 cases of violence against women and children in the province during the first half of 2023.
This data was collected through the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (Simfoni PPA version 2.0) from January to July 16, 2023.
Children constituted the majority of victims, accounting for 79.2% of the total cases, while 20.8% were adults.
Geographically, the highest number of cases of violence against women and children occurred in Central Lampung (Lampung Tengah), with 73 cases.
Bandar Lampung City followed in second place with 56 cases.
Way Kanan Regency was third, with 35 cases, followed by East Lampung (Lampung Timur) Regency with 30 cases.
The following is a complete list of regencies/cities with the highest number of cases of violence against women and children in Lampung Province as of July 16, 2023:
1. Lampung Tengah: 73 cases
2. Bandar Lampung City: 56 cases
3. Way Kanan: 35 cases
4. Lampung Timur: 30 cases
5. West Tulang Bawang (Tulang Bawang Barat): 17 cases
6. Tulang Bawang: 16 cases
7. West Coast (Pesisir Barat): 13 cases
8. South Lampung (Lampung Selatan): 12 cases
9. Tanggamus: 12 cases
10. Pesawaran: 11 cases
11. Mesuji: 10 cases
12. North Lampung (Lampung Utara): 7 cases
13. Pringsewu: 7 cases
14. Metro City: 5 cases
15. West Lampung (Lampung Barat): 3 cases
The PPPA also found that junior high school (SMP) students were the most frequent victims, accounting for 36.2% or 122 individuals.
This was followed by elementary school (SD) students (64 individuals) and senior high school (SM/SMA) students (60 individuals).
The most prevalent type of violence was sexual violence, with 220 cases. This was followed by psychological violence (71 individuals), physical violence (45 individuals), and exploitation (13 individuals).
The PPPA's data also indicates that the majority of violence occurred in the domestic sphere, specifically within households (169 cases).
