Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Batang Hari Reaches 10.97% in 2024

Statistics Indonesia (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Batang Hari Regency, Jambi, was 10.97% in 2024.

This figure decreased by 4.51% from the previous year''s 15.48%, while it increased by 1.27% over the last 5 years.

Indonesia''s average PoU was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Batang Hari Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that 10.97% of the population in Batang Hari Regency consumes food but does not meet their energy requirements.

Compared to 10 other regencies/cities in Jambi Province, Batang Hari Regency''s PoU ranks 5th. The region with the lowest PoU (top rank) is Bungo Regency (6.51%), and the highest (last rank) is Sungai Penuh City (14.91%).
