Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption in Kulonprogo Decreases by 5.65% in the Last Year

According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Kulonprogo Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, reached 13.44% in 2023.

This figure is down 5.65% from the previous year's 19.09%, while it has increased by 0.61% over the past 5 years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Kulonprogo Regency is higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Kulonprogo Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient, does not reach 13.44% of the total population.
