This shows the distribution of Christians in Indonesia, with the highest concentration in Papua.

The Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs recorded that the Indonesian population practicing Christianity numbered 20.45 million as of December 31, 2021.

This number constitutes only 7.47% of Indonesia's total population of 273.87 million. However, this proportion makes Christianity the second largest religion in Indonesia.

Details of religions practiced by the Indonesian population are as follows:

1. Islam: 86.93%
2. Protestant Christianity: 7.47%
3. Catholic: 3.08%
4. Hindu: 1.71%
5. Buddhist: 0.74%
6. Indigenous Beliefs: 0.05%
7. Confucianism: 0.03%

According to Dukcapil records, 69.56% (2.99 million) of the Christian population resides in Papua province.

The next provinces with the largest Christian populations are North Sulawesi, at 62.94% (2.66 million), and West Papua at 53.88% (619,800).

West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has the smallest Christian population, at only 0.25% (13,540). Following this is South Sumatra with 0.97% (82,860) of its population practicing Christianity.

Another province with a very small Christian population is Aceh. In this province, nicknamed the "Veranda of Mecca," 1.19% (63,490) of the population practices Christianity.
