Prevalence of Inadequate Food Consumption on Taliabu Island Decreased by 6.13% in the Last 5 Years

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reports that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Pulau Taliabu Regency, North Maluku, reached 39.21% in 2023.

This figure is up 0.59% from the previous year's 38.62%, while it has decreased by 2.56% over the past 5 years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Pulau Taliabu Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that in Pulau Taliabu Regency, the percentage of the population whose food consumption does not meet their energy needs does not reach 39.21% of the total population.
