Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again This Afternoon (Saturday, September 27, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Saturday (27/9/2025) at 16:36 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 73 times.

Citing eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to be around None meters above the peak or None meters above sea level.

Visual eruption was not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 29.6 millimeters and a duration of 80 seconds.

According to MAGMA Indonesia's volcanic activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level IV (Alert). Seismicity observations on September 27, 2025, from 06:00-12:00 WITA showed 3 eruption/explosive earthquakes with amplitudes of 11-29.6 millimeters and durations of 75-164 seconds.

Then, 2 exhalation earthquakes with amplitudes of 4.4-14.8 millimeters and durations of 30-48 seconds, and 3 non-harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 3.7-7.4 millimeters and durations of 82-92 seconds occurred.

PVMBG urges the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to engage in any activities within a 6-kilometer radius and a 7-kilometer sectoral area from Southwest-Northeast of the eruption center of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,390 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,510 times) while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 635 times.
