Bengkulu Tengah Residents' Food Consumption Inadequacy Rate Increased by 9.48% in 2024

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of food inadequacy (Prevalence of Undernourishment/PoU) in Bengkulu Tengah Regency, Bengkulu, was 9.48% in 2024.

This figure increased by 1.59% from the previous year's 7.89%, while in the last 5 years it has risen by 3.41%.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Bengkulu Tengah Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that 9.48% of the total population in Bengkulu Tengah Regency consumes food but has insufficient energy to meet their needs.
