KLHK Detects 1,091 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in West Kalimantan (Saturday, August 9, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed 1,091 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 484 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Saturday (August 9, 2025) at 11:21 AM WIB. Of the 1,091 detected hotspots, 40 points have a high hotspot confidence level, 1,025 points are medium scale, and 26 points are low scale.

The hotspot confidence level is divided into 3 scales. Low scale has a range of 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the likelihood of forest and land fires occurring in a certain area.

The most detected hotspots are in West Kalimantan with 601 points. East Nusa Tenggara ranks second with 108 points. Central Kalimantan is in third place with 68 hotspots.

A total of 59 hotspots were detected in East Java, followed by West Nusa Tenggara with 38 hotspots, and South Sumatra and South Sulawesi each having 31 and 29 detected hotspots.

A hotspot is a coordinate point of an area that has a higher surface temperature than its surroundings, and not the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of hotspots clustered in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective in monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
