Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring over the past 24 hours detected 163 hotspots across Indonesia. This number is 33 points lower than the previous monitoring period.

Data was obtained from Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Saturday (9/5/2026) at 11.34 WIB. Of the 163 detected hotspots: 4 have high confidence level, 155 medium, and 4 low confidence level.

Hotspot confidence is classified into 3 scales: Low (0-29), Medium (30-79), High (80-100). Higher confidence level means greater likelihood of active forest/land fire in the area.

Most hotspots were detected in North Maluku (35 points), followed by East Nusa Tenggara (26) and East Kalimantan (16).

15 hotspots were recorded in West Nusa Tenggara, 14 in East Java, with 13 and 11 hotspots detected in Central Java and Banten respectively.

Hotspots are coordinate points with higher surface temperature than surrounding areas; this count does not represent total fire incidents.

However, clustered high hotspot counts indicate active fire events. Satellite-detected hotspot data remains the most effective method for large-area forest fire monitoring.
