Prevalence of Undernourishment in West Pesisir Rose by 1.17% in the Last Year

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung, reached 8.4% in 2024.

This figure increased by 1.17% from the previous year's 7.23%, while in the last 5 years, it rose by 0.52%.

Indonesia's average PoU was 8.27% in 2024. This means that the PoU in Pesisir Barat Regency is higher than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy required for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity conditions.

This means that the population in Pesisir Barat Regency who consume food but have insufficient energy intake does not reach 8.4% of the total population.
