Temanggung's Population Food Consumption Adequacy Rate Decreased by 10.26% in 2023

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Temanggung Regency, Central Java, reached 10.26% in 2023.

This figure is down 4.73% from the previous year's 14.99%, and down 6.53% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Temanggung Regency is higher than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where an individual regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the percentage of residents in Temanggung Regency who consume food but lack sufficient energy needs does not reach 10.26% of the total population.

Compared to 34 other regencies/cities in Central Java Province, Temanggung Regency ranks 17th in terms of PoU. The areas with the lowest PoU (top ranking) are Salatiga City (5.83%) and the highest (bottom ranking) is Purworejo Regency (14.71%).
