KLHK Detects 190 Hotspots in Indonesia, Most in North Maluku (Monday, December 1, 2025)

Based on the SiPongi forest and land fire monitoring system of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), monitoring in the last 24 hours showed 190 hotspots detected in Indonesia. This number of hotspots decreased by 34 points compared to the previous period.

The data is the result of Terra/Aqua, SNPP, and NOAA satellite imagery accessed on Monday (12/1/2025) at 11:12 AM WIB. Of the 190 detected hotspots, 2 had a high confidence level, 186 were medium scale, and 2 were low scale.

Hotspot confidence levels are divided into 3 scales. Low scale ranges from 0 - 29, medium scale 30 - 79, and high scale 80 - 100. The higher the hotspot confidence level, the higher the probability of forest and land fires occurring in a particular area.

The most detected hotspots were in North Maluku with 39 points. Central Sulawesi ranked second with 32 hotspots. Bengkulu was in third place with 28 hotspots.

A total of 14 hotspots were detected in South Sumatra, followed by Banten with 12 hotspots, and Southeast Sulawesi and Riau each having 9 detected hotspots.

Hotspots are coordinate points of an area that have a higher surface temperature than their surroundings, and do not represent the number of forest and land fire incidents.

However, a large number of clustered hotspots in an area indicates the occurrence of forest and land fires. This means that hotspot data from remote sensing satellite detection is still the most effective for monitoring forest and land fires over a large area.
