A report from the New World Health research institute notes that New York City has the highest aggregate household wealth in the world. The population of the world's largest city, home to two major stock exchanges (the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq), possesses a total wealth of US$3 trillion, three times the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Indonesia. The average income of its residents reaches US$50,711.
Meanwhile, London holds the second position with a wealth of US$2.7 trillion, followed by Tokyo in third place with US$2.5 trillion. Over the past 10 years, the cities experiencing the most rapid growth in wealth have been San Francisco, Beijing, Shanghai, Mumbai, and Sydney. Currently, two Chinese cities, Shenzhen and Hangzhou, are vying for a place among the top 15 wealthiest cities globally.
These 15 cities with the highest aggregate wealth represent 11% of total global wealth. This total wealth refers to the private wealth of each city's residents, including property, cash, stocks, and business investments. Government revenue parameters such as GDP are not included in this calculation.
