So, the THR extortion suspect, what is the wealth of the Cilacap Regent?

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others in a sting operation on Friday (March 13, 2026).

He is suspected of extorting money from government units in Cilacap Regency, Central Java, for holiday allowance (THR) purposes since the 2025 Eid al-Fitr.

"This has been happening repeatedly. Even if he's not caught this year, there's a high chance it will happen again in the future," said KPK Deputy for Investigation and Enforcement Asep Guntur Rahayu in a statement, as reported by Antara on Saturday (March 14, 2026).

Asep explained that the case originated from a public complaint. The Cilacap Regent was alleged to have ordered the Cilacap Regency Secretary Sadmoko Danardono to collect money for personal and external parties' THR.

The external parties referred to are the Regional Leaders Forum (Forkopimda) in the Cilacap Regency government.

On March 14, 2026, the KPK announced Samsyul and Sadmoko as suspects in the alleged extortion and bribery case involving Cilacap Regency government officials during the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

According to the State Official's Asset Declaration Report (LHKPN), Samsyul had a total wealth of Rp12.03 billion in 2026. The report was submitted to the KPK on January 19, 2026, when he was serving as the regional head. Most of his assets consisted of two plots of land and buildings worth Rp8.15 billion spread across Cilacap.

Samsyul also reportedly owned transportation worth Rp1.4 billion, cash and cash equivalents worth Rp1.29 billion, other assets worth Rp1.05 trillion, and other movable assets worth Rp360 million.

The reported transportation included two vehicles, namely a Toyota minibus (2021) and a Toyota SUV (2024). By the end of 2025, the Cilacap regent who was caught in this OTT operation had debts amounting to Rp215.61 million.
