Indramayu's Population Food Consumption Adequacy Rate Decreased by 5.4% in 2023

According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Indramayu Regency, West Java, reached 5.4% in 2023.

This figure is down 0.59% from the previous year's 5.99%, while it has increased by 0.72% over the past five years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.53% in 2023. This means that the PoU in Indramayu Regency is lower than the national average.

The National Food Agency (Bapanas) defines PoU as a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needs for a normal, active, and healthy life. This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.

This means that the population in Indramayu Regency who consume food but whose energy needs are insufficient, does not reach 5.4% of the total population.

Compared to 26 other regencies/cities in West Java Province, Indramayu Regency ranks 12th in terms of PoU. The area with the lowest PoU (top ranking) is Depok City (1.99%), and the highest (bottom ranking) is Tasikmalaya Regency (8.65%).
