More than 10,400 Palestinian civilians were killed during the Israeli-Hamas war between October 7 and November 7, 2023.
The highest number of Palestinian casualties was in the Gaza Strip, with 10,328 deaths, followed by 150 deaths in the West Bank.
This data was compiled by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) from the Gaza Ministry of Health and official statements from the Israeli government.
OCHA also noted that during the 32-day war until November 7, 2023, there were approximately 28,300 Palestinian casualties and 5,400 Israeli casualties.
"Gaza has become a graveyard for children. Hundreds of girls and boys are reported killed or injured every day," said United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, as broadcast on the OCHA website on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
"The number of journalists reported killed in the last four weeks is higher than in any conflict in at least three decades. More UN aid workers have been killed in this war than in any period in our organization's history," he continued.
In addition to the casualties, the Israeli attacks have forced approximately 1.5 million Palestinians in Gaza to flee their homes.
The conditions of the displaced are reportedly worsening, especially in UNRWA shelters that are already overcrowded. UNRWA is a UN agency serving Palestinian refugees.
"Overcrowded shelters remain a major concern. More than 557,000 people are sheltering in 92 UNRWA facilities in southern Gaza, and these facilities are unable to accommodate new arrivals," OCHA said in its press release on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.
"The Khan Younis Training Centre, the most overcrowded UNRWA shelter, is housing more than 22,000 refugees, with less than two square meters of space per person, and at least 600 people sharing one toilet."
"Deteriorating sanitation conditions, as well as lack of privacy and space, pose health and safety hazards. Thousands of cases of acute respiratory infections, diarrhea, and chickenpox have been reported among refugees in UNRWA shelters," it continued.
Amidst this situation, OCHA announced that the humanitarian aid needed by Palestinians has reached US$1.23 billion, or approximately Rp19 trillion.
