Prevalence of Food Consumption Inadequacy in Payakumbuh City Rises 1.66% in the Last Year

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) in Payakumbuh City, West Sumatra, reached 8.17% in 2024.

This figure increased by 1.66% from the previous year''s 6.51%, and by 4.95% in the last 5 years.

The average PoU in Indonesia was 8.27% in 2024. This means that Payakumbuh City''s PoU is lower than the national average.

According to the National Food Agency (Bapanas), PoU is a condition where a person regularly consumes an insufficient amount of food to meet the energy needed for a normal, active, and healthy life.

This indicator can be used as a tool to assess food and nutrition insecurity.
