Warning! Mount Ibu Erupts Again This Morning (Tuesday, October 21, 2025)

Mount Ibu in North Maluku erupted again on Tuesday (10/21/2025) at 08:57 WIT. In the last week, Mount Ibu has erupted 7 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to reach None meters above the peak or None meters above sea level.

The visual eruption was not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 28 millimeters and a duration of 74 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Ibu is at Level II (Alert). Seismicity observations on October 21, 2025, from 00:00-23:59 WIT showed 62 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 15-28 millimeters and earthquake durations of 30-76 seconds.

Subsequently, there were 4 exhalation earthquakes with amplitudes of 6-10 millimeters and durations of 36-42 seconds, and 14 harmonic earthquakes with amplitudes of 2-15 millimeters and durations of 23-58 seconds.

PVMBG urged the public around Mount Ibu and visitors/tourists not to carry out activities within a radius of 2.0 kilometers and a sectoral expansion of 3.5 kilometers towards the crater opening in the northern part of Mount Ibu's active crater.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,733 volcano eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,654 times), while Mount Ibu erupted 2,420 times.
