Based on population data from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Indonesia's population reached 282.48 million in June 2024. This figure is up by 1.75 million compared to the total population in December 2023.

By gender, 142.57 million (50.47%) of Indonesia's population are male, while 139.91 million (49.53%) are female.

West Java remains the province with the largest population in Indonesia, at 50.49 million (17.87%) of the total population in June 2024. This is followed by East Java with 41.71 million (14.77%) and Central Java with 38.28 million (13.55%).

The following are the 10 provinces with the largest populations in June 2024:

3. Central Java: 38.28 million (13.55%)
4. North Sumatra: 15.55 million (5.5%)

Meanwhile, South Papua has the smallest total population in Indonesia, at 545,860 (0.19%) of the total population. Following this are West Papua and Southwest Papua, with populations of 569,910 (0.2%) and 616,130 (0.22%) respectively.
