Warning! Mount Ibu Erupts Again This Afternoon (Sunday, February 15, 2026)

Mount Ibu in North Maluku erupted again on Sunday (February 15, 2026) at 17:51 WIT. In the past week, Mount Ibu has erupted 39 times.

Quoting eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column observed is about None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

Visual observation of the eruption was not recorded. The eruption was detected on the seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 28 millimeters and a duration of 44 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcanic activity report, the activity level of Mount Ibu is at Level II (Warning). Seismic observations on February 15, 2026 from 00:00 to 23:59 WIT showed 113 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 12-28 millimeters and durations of 37-87 seconds.

Then, 3 emission earthquakes with amplitudes of 2-6 millimeters and durations of 39-47 seconds, as well as 22 harmonic earthquakes with amplitudes of 3-28 millimeters and durations of 47-170 seconds.

PVMBG advises people around Mount Ibu and visitors/tourists not to carry out activities within a 2.0 kilometer radius and a sectoral extension of 3.5 kilometers towards the crater opening in the northern part of Mount Ibu's active crater.

In 2026, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 610 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java has the most eruptions (316 times) while Mount Ibu has erupted 254 times.
