Warning! Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki Erupts Again Early This Morning (Tuesday, August 26, 2025)

Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki in East Nusa Tenggara erupted again on Tuesday (8/26/2025) at 03:11 WITA. In the last week, Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki has erupted 7 times.

Citing eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the ash column was observed to be around None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

No visual eruption was observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 7.4 millimeters and a duration of 104 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki is at Level III (Alert). Seismicity observations on August 26, 2025, at 18:00-23:59 WITA showed 1 eruption/explosion earthquake with an amplitude of 14.8 millimeters and a duration of 124 seconds.

Subsequently, there were 8 exhalation earthquakes with amplitudes of 2.9-5.9 millimeters and durations of 30-58 seconds, and 2 non-harmonic tremors with amplitudes of 2.2-2.9 millimeters and durations of 73-95 seconds.

PVMBG urged the public around Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki and visitors/tourists not to conduct any activities within a 6-kilometer radius from the center of the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki eruption.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 5,801 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,315 times), while Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki erupted 488 times.
