Warning! This Morning Mount Semeru Erupts Again (Friday, July 25, 2025)

Mount Semeru in East Java erupted again on Friday (July 25, 2025) at 07.25 AM WIB. In the last week, Mount Semeru has erupted 22 times.

Citing eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the observed ash column reached None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

The visual eruption was not observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 22 millimeters and a duration of 132 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Semeru is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on July 25, 2025, from 00.00-23.59 WIB showed 39 eruption tremors/quakes with amplitudes of 10-22 millimeters and durations of 44-192 seconds.

Furthermore, there were 7 rockfall tremors with amplitudes of 5-11 mm and durations of 49-75 seconds, and 4 exhalation tremors with amplitudes of 4-8 millimeters and durations of 50-103 seconds.

PVMBG advises against any activity in the southeast sector along Besuk Kobokan, as far as 8 kilometers from the peak (eruption center). Beyond this distance, the public is advised not to conduct activities within 500 meters from the riverbank (river border) along Besuk Kobokan, as there is potential to be affected by the expansion of hot clouds and lava flows up to 13 kilometers from the peak.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 5,307 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java has the most eruptions, with 2.139 events.
