The Indonesian National Police (Polri) conducted a vehicle crackdown, "Operation Safety 2023," nationwide on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, lasting until Monday, February 20, 2023.
The operation involved vehicle document checks and driving condition assessments. Violations resulted in electronic traffic law enforcement (E-TLE) citations, both static and mobile. However, manual citations remained a possibility in some areas.
"Operation Safety 2023, from February 7th to 20th, aims to reduce traffic violations, accidents, and fatalities," stated AKBP Bargani, Head of the Korlantas Polri Operations Division, as quoted by Trenoto on Wednesday, February 1st.
The crackdown targeted all drivers and vehicle types, including cars, motorcycles, buses, etc., with a greater focus on motorcycles due to their higher volume.
