Mount Dukono Erupts Again Tonight (Saturday, August 9, 2025)

Mount Dukono in North Maluku erupted again on Saturday (8/9/2025) at 9:41 PM WIT. In the last week, Mount Dukono has erupted 10 times.

Reporting eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the observed ash column reached None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

Visual eruption was not observed. The eruption of Mount Dukono was still ongoing when this report was made.

According to MAGMA Indonesia's volcano activity report, the activity level of Mount Dukono is at Level II (Alert). Seismic observations on August 9, 2025, at 00.00-23.59 WIT showed 401 eruption/explosion earthquakes with amplitudes of 10-24 millimeters and earthquake durations of 30.97-90.55 seconds.

Then, 1 felt earthquake, scale II MMI with an amplitude of 34 millimeters, S-P not observed, and earthquake duration of 152.73 seconds, and 1 continuous tremor earthquake with an amplitude of 1-14 millimeters, dominant at 10 millimeters.

PVMBG advises the public around Mount Dukono and visitors/tourists not to engage in activities, climb, or approach Malupang Warirang Crater within a 4-kilometer radius.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 5,534 volcanic eruptions/explosions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,210 times) while Mount Dukono erupted 469 times.
