Mount Marapi Erupts Again Early This Morning (Tuesday, November 4, 2025)

Mount Marapi in West Sumatra erupted again on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) at 04:40 AM WIB. In the last week, Mount Marapi has erupted 2 times.

Based on eruption information from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) via the MAGMA Indonesia application, the height of the observed ash column was approximately None meters above the peak (None meters above sea level).

No visual eruption was observed. The eruption was recorded on a seismograph with a maximum amplitude of 30.1 millimeters and a duration of 32 seconds.

According to the MAGMA Indonesia volcanic activity report, Mount Marapi's activity level is at Level II (Alert). Seismicity observations on November 4, 2025, from 00:00-23:59 WIB showed 1 eruption/explosion earthquake with an amplitude of 22.5 millimeters and a duration of 29 seconds.

Additionally, there were 4 emission earthquakes with amplitudes of 2.2-4.5 millimeters and durations of 16-37 seconds, and 1 deep volcanic earthquake with an amplitude of 1 millimeter s-p 1 second and a duration of 10 seconds.

PVMBG urges the community around Mount Marapi and hikers/visitors/tourists not to enter and not to conduct activities within a 3-kilometer radius from the center of activity (Verbeek Crater) of Mount Marapi.

Throughout 2025, MAGMA Indonesia has recorded 6,896 volcanic eruptions across Indonesia. Mount Semeru in East Java had the most eruptions (2,762 times), while Mount Marapi erupted 114 times.
