With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 169 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week above the national average. Data as of Monday, July 11, 2022, shows a national average of 193.37 tests per week.
The top five, starting from the highest, are Banyuwangi, Kuningan, Tasikmalaya, Jombang, and Tanggamus, with 976, 968, 961, 936, and 927 people tested per week, respectively.
Banyuwangi is ranked first, with 976 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 0.61 percent, a decrease from the previous week.
Next is Kuningan, which tested 968 people per week in its efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 1.03 percent, an increase from the previous week.
Furthermore, Tasikmalaya recorded 961 people tested per week, Jombang 936, and Tanggamus 927.
In anticipation of the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 213 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested per week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 156 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested per week compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested per week include Tanggamus, Lampung Selatan, and Pontianak City, with 927, 926, and 864 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
