With the increasing rate of Omicron in Indonesia, 146 regencies/cities have aggressively conducted Covid-19 tests in the last week above the national average. Data as of Saturday, September 17, 2022, shows a national average of 145.76 tests per week.
The top five, starting with the highest number of people tested per week, are Pekanbaru City (987 people), West Bandung Regency (985 people), Sukabumi City (954 people), Malang City (935 people), and Kudus Regency (922 people).
Pekanbaru City ranks first, with 987 people tested per week. The latest positive rate is 7.8 percent, down from the previous week.
Next is West Bandung Regency, with 985 people tested per week in efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The positive rate in this region is 7.01 percent, also down from the previous week.
Sukabumi City recorded 954 tests per week, Malang City 935 tests per week, and Kudus Regency 922 tests per week.
Anticipating the impact of Omicron in various regions, based on a recapitulation of national Covid data, 217 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of people tested daily in the last week compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, 143 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of people tested in the last week compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of people tested per week include Pekanbaru City, Bandar Lampung City, and Samarinda City, with 987, 741, and 725 people tested per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
