In the week of August 9-16, 21 provinces showed a downward trend in weekly data, while 13 provinces showed an upward trend. Continuing from the previous week (August 2-9), West Papua this week successfully controlled the COVID-19 pandemic. The weekly trend of COVID-19 transmission in this region has decreased significantly, even reaching the lowest negative value compared to other provinces. Weekly transmission in this region was recorded at -93.63 percent.
West Papua is among the top five provinces, along with Bengkulu, West Sumatra, South Sulawesi, and North Kalimantan. These four regions, based on yesterday's data, recorded an average growth of -57.13 percent. Compared to this month's highest achievement, the current figure is even three times lower. Currently, West Papua has continuously managed to reduce the transmission rate from its highest point of 245.76 percent on Monday, August 9th, gradually decreasing to its current level.
The majority of the highest decreases on the last day of the PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) occurred outside of Java Island, as these provinces recorded high growth the previous week. This contrasts with the provinces in Java and Bali, where growth has been gentler in the last two weeks. Nationally, the current weekly COVID-19 case growth is 12 percent.
Other regions outside Java Island that still show high growth are Jambi, West Kalimantan, Aceh, Papua, North Sulawesi, and Central Kalimantan. These regions recorded an upward trend in the last week, as shown in the graph below.
