The top five, starting with the highest, are Halmahera Tengah, Teluk Bintuni, Balikpapan City, Central Jakarta City, and Sabang City, with 5.94, 3.17, 2.3, 2.18, and 2.15 tests per 1000 people per week, respectively.
Halmahera Tengah ranks first. With a population of 59,226, the number of people tested was 5.94 per 1000 people per week. The latest positive rate is 0 percent. The positive rate in this region has decreased compared to the previous week.
Next is Teluk Bintuni. The population is 70,555. In efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, 3.17 people per 1000 people per week were tested. The positive rate in this region is 0 percent, also down from the previous week.
Covid-19 testing in Balikpapan City recorded 2.3 per 1000 people per week; in Central Jakarta City, with a population of 914,530, it was 2.18 per 1000 people per week; and in Sabang City, it was 2.15 per 1000 people per week.
In anticipation of the Omicron impact in various regions, based on national Covid-19 data, 21 regencies/cities in Indonesia actively reported a higher number of daily tests than before. Meanwhile, 27 other regencies/cities recorded a lower number of tests compared to the previous week.
Areas outside Java with the highest number of tests include Halmahera Tengah, Teluk Bintuni, and Balikpapan City, with 5.94, 3.17, and 2.3 tests per 1000 people per week, respectively.
Although Covid-19 transmission has decreased in some areas, the government urges everyone to continue reducing Covid-19 transmission by always wearing masks, maintaining distance, and frequently washing hands with soap and running water. Avoiding crowds and reducing mobility also contribute to suppressing the spread of the coronavirus.
